Ups and Downs

This week has been a tough week. I worked out on Monday, struggled through my workout, then Tuesday and Wednesday were overwhelmed with physical and emotional troubles. Work outs have been tough lately as well. I feel myself getting stronger, but the endurance is not there. I often find myself exhausted halfway through, forcing myself to finish strong. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude, sticking with the workouts, I know that they will pay off soon. I also know that I need to focus on nutrition as well. I've been eating well, but not necessarily enough or often enough. Living at home makes this portion tough, as well as being on a strict budget. I know I will get this all worked out, I just need to get adjusted and I need to get my head in the right place as well.

If this were easy, a lot more people would be doing it. Stay strong, stay tough, stay inspired and motivated.

Give me beer! Give me candy!!

Since I've started boot camp I have been doing my best to keep away from the beer and delicious sweets. This hasn't been easy, given that I love beer and I have a major sweet tooth! This weekend was a true test for me and I do have to say that, although I didn't completely steer away from these things, I did limit myself much more than I would ordinarily have in the past. On Friday, I had an enjoyable time with friends, and limited my beer intake to a respectable two. I skipped sweets in turn for fruit or yogurt except for Sunday evening, when I gave into a small bowl (really, I promise) of coconut milk chocolate ice cream (with cherries).

I know that my fitness goals include eating well, but I can't beat myself up for the slip ups I have had. I am accountable for what I put into my body, but giving into negative, guilty feelings doesn't help me either. So, I've decided to move on, tomorrow is a new day that I can be awesome at perfecting my food choices.

Go me! :)

(Also, as a side note, I've learned that I am terrible at tennis, but pretty good at football. Yay!)

Making my fitness a priority.

I am the queen of starting things and not following through. Violin, flute, volleyball, many starts at the gym, workout programs, etc. I always start these things and never finish. I find something else that interests me and move on. I've always had some athletic ability and never really let it shine. As I get older, I see my family age , and some of the health problems they deal with really make me think: Do I want to go through that too?

Being lazy is always the easiest thing. It's easy to come home from work or school or wherever really, and just be lazy, that's what I've always found. I'm writing here to hold myself accountable, to make sure that I follow through. I'm at a point in my life where I want to be healthier, I want to explore this fantastic planet, and I don't want something I do to prevent me from anything! There have been so many situations in the past where I've sat out and been a spectator because I was too self conscious, too worried that I would look out of shape or wouldn't be able to participate in the manner that I would like. Not anymore.

I've decided to create a new, better me. I've decided that I want to take my health and fitness into my hands. My heaviest weight was 220 lbs, at my first weigh in at Fit Soldiers I weighed 202. In the past I've always let my weight be a factor of my self worth. About two years ago I decided that I wasn't going to gauge myself by how I looked, that wasn't me. People love me for my sense of humor, my big heart, my ability to have carefree moments, not because I'm overweight. If others didn't use weight as a factor on how much they loved me, why did I? So long story short I did some soul searching and found confidence in my strengths.

I recently joined Fit Soldiers Fitness Revolution and was completely shocked at the environment there. Everyone is supportive of your goals, the people who go there to work out and the trainers, and it's such an amazing environment. I knew once I joined, I would have to hold myself accountable to building a healthier self. There are all of these other people there committed and supporting me, so I feel I have to support myself too. As I said before, it's not about weight for me anymore, it's about having a healthier, fitter self, so I don't limit what I can do or be in this world. I'm excited for my journey, and I hope that if you don't see me post regularly, you help me hold myself accountable.
